The Encouraging Innovation: Field-Initiated Programs is designed to strengthen the criminal justice system by challenging those in the field to identify and define emerging or chronic systemic issues faced by one or more components of the criminal justice continuum (includes but not limited to law enforcement, corrections, courts, and community collaborations) and to propose innovative solutions to address these issues.
James A. Rhodes State College will implement the Education, Communication, Assessment, Intervention and Protection Plan (ECAIPP) which offers a new approach to preventing an Active Shooter that focus on strategies to prevent these events. Staff will research current effective strategies from other successful programs and develop education, communication, screening, assessment, and violence prevention strategies to address the threat of an Active Shooter on college campuses.
