The National Initiatives: Enhancing Law Enforcement Program, administered by the Office of Justice Programs' (OJP) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), helps improve criminal justice systems and provides national programs and national efforts such as training and technical assistance to strategically address the needs of state and local justice systems and communities.
The Rutgers University Police Institute in collaboration with New Jersey State Police will design an organizational change curriculum designed to assist target agencies, local urban police departments and national departments, implement new methods to enhance agency excellence and maximize services to the community through improved systems of accountability. The project goal is a series of organizational change projects resulting in improved approaches to organizational excellence and stronger police leadership. Rutgers University will facilitate a workshop followed by a implementation period supported by technical assistance; in addition, an implementation manual and web-based information support system will be developed.
