Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $200,000)

The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) will continue supporting gang and gun violence reduction strategies in support of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). They will assist justice agencies in pursuing the reduction of gun and gang violence through training and technical assistance (both in-person and distance learning) to improve the knowledge, communication, and collaboration amongst corrections, law enforcement, judicial, and community-based professionals. APPA will expand the applicability of the APPA C.A.R.E. (collaboration, analysis, reentry, evaluation) model to reach rural and tribal audiences most in need and will continue to emphasize cross-agency collaboration, community analysis, reentry planning, and evaluation.
