Gideon's Promise will utilize award funds to train and mentor public defenders to build a movement of legal professionals committed to orchestrating a cultural transformation in indigent defense, to cultivate the leadership needed to support these defenders and to develop measurement tools to measure the success of its efforts. The comprehensive model for change will emphasize client centered values, ongoing trial advocacy training, mentoring, leadership development, and community building.
