The Regional Information Sharing System (RISS) Program offers a variety of services and support to law enforcement agencies to include federated searches of law enforcement databases through nationwide connectivity using internet technologies, intelligence analysis, bulletins and publications, surveillance equipment loans, confidential funds, investigative and prosecution support, and law enforcement and officer safety training.
The recipient will utilize FY 2013 RISS funds to continue to operate the New England State Police Information Network (NESPIN). NESPIN is comprised of more than 900 law enforcement agencies in New England. The goal of NESPIN is to enhance the ability of state and local criminal justice agencies to identify, target, and remove criminal conspiracies and activities which cross jurisdictional boundaries.
