The FY 2014 Justice Information Sharing (JIS) Solutions Implementation Program is funded under the Edward Byrne Memorial Competitive Grant Program (Byrne Competitive Program), the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, or external transfer from the Program Manager for the Information Sharing Environment (PMISE). It is authorized by the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2014, Pub. L. No.113-76. BJA funds will support the implementation of justice information sharing solutions that address critical challenges currently faced by state, local, and tribal criminal justice agencies. The JIS solutions implemented under this program will support criminal justice policies, practices, and programs that are data-driven and evidence-based.
The Alabama Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation will enhance their data sharing portal the Alabama Secure Sharing Utility for Recidivism Elimination (ASSURE) to allow for information sharing between criminal justice and mental health/substance abuse agencies and providers. The goal is to create the infrastructure and documentation to participate in a trust system framework that can be replicated. CA/NCF
