Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2014, $24,365)
The American Samoa Criminal Justice Planning Agency will use their FY14 PREA grant funding to bring their two correctional facilities in to compliance with the PREA standards. They will determine if sexual assault is occurring in these facilities and pursue avenues in preventing these incidences from occurring. Their focus in using 2014 PREA funds will be general prevention planning. This will include educating and training correctional officers at the Tafuna Correctional Facility and the Juvenile Detention Facility. They will also audit their facilities using a certified PREA auditor.
