Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $345,166)

The Joint Adult Drug Court to Enhance Services, Coordination, and Treatment is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, counties, other units of local government, or Indian tribal governments to implement comprehensive strategies for enhancing drug court capacity by bridging access to both criminal justice and substance abuse treatment funds. The overall goal of the Joint Adult Drug Court Program is to equip courts and court systems with the necessary tools and resources utilizing the most current evidence-based practices and principles to intervene with substance-using participants while preparing citizens for successful community reintegration. To accomplish this goal, these grant funds will be awarded to build and/or expand drug court capacity at the state, local, and tribal levels to reduce crime and substance use disorders among high-risk, high-need participants.
