Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $1,636,054)
The purpose of the Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program (42 U.S.C. 3797u et seq.) is to provide financial and technical assistance to states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments to develop and implement drug courts that effectively integrate evidence-based substance abuse treatment, mandatory drug testing, sanctions and incentives, and transitional services in a judicially supervised court setting with jurisdiction over substance-abusing drug court participants. Providers under this solicitation will support the Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program (42 U.S.C. 3797u et seq.) grantees as well as the adult drug court field-at-large.
Category 1 Adult Drug Court Planning Initiative- The grantee, serving as a technical assistance provider, will use grant funds to implement and manage the Drug Court Planning Initiative (DCPI), which consists of a standardized core curriculum based on adult learning theory and the 10 key components of a drug court. The provider will receive all current curricula and speaker notes and be expected to update these curricula to ensure that they incorporate the latest in drug court research. The training provider will conduct no more than 50 population-specific training sessions over a 12-month period.
