Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $999,993)
The Smart Policing Initiative (SPI) Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program seeks to build upon analysis-driven, evidence-based policing by encouraging state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies to develop effective, economical, and innovative responses to crime within their jurisdictions. The goal of the program is to assist in implementing evidence-based interventions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of police agencies processes and procedures and establish sustainable partnerships with researchers to evaluate their effectiveness. SPI TTA partner is expected to work closely with BJA and individual SPI sites to ensure their initiatives effectiveness and success.
CNA will utilize the TTA funds to expand the knowledge and impact of evidence-based policing through the Bureau of Justice Assistance's Smart Policing Initiative by assisting current and new SPI sites, as well as the broader law enforcement community as they continue tackling chronic and emerging crime problems with data and analytically-driven policy innovation. CNA will do this by using a comprehensive four-part TTA approach building from their experiences in the field. CA/NCF
