Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $157,649)

The State of Tennessee proposes to use FFY 2017 Coverdell Formula funds to support the following programs.

1) Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) - Forensic Laboratory Equipment Upgrades and Training: The TBI proposes to use funding to purchase and install hardware and support training of personnel at laboratories, and including upgrading the Firing Range to include backstop and target for the Firearm/Toolmark Identification Unit, purchase Noritsu printer for the Latent Print Unit, Crime Scope Forensic Light Source for the Latent Print Unit, and Train personnel to gain accreditation for the base funds. TBI proposes to use funding under the competitive to purchase Nicolet iS50 Analytical FTIR Spectrometer and Software.

2) Tennessee Department of Health - Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner - Death Scene Investigation Equipment: TDOH-OCSME proposes to use funding to digitize Death Investigation Administration by purchasing Surface Pro’s that are uploaded with the main software for administration purposes. TDOH-OCSME proposes to use funding under the competitive to hold an ABMDI and NAME Accreditation course.
