Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $28,626)
The stated purpose of the FY 2017 President-Elect Security Assistance Reimbursement Grant Program is to reimburse state and local agencies for extraordinary law enforcement costs directly and solely associated with the extraordinary security required to protect the President-elect during the Presidential transition period. At the discretion of BJA, up to $20 million will be made available to reimburse state and local agencies for costs necessary to protect the President-elect during the Presidential transition period from 2:30 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time), November 9, 2016, through 12:00 Noon (Eastern Standard Time), January 20, 2017.
BJA intends to reimburse state and local law enforcement agencies on a pro-rata basis for extraordinary security-related costs incurred during the stated transition period. The determination as to the level and extent of such reimbursements may be adjusted in part in consideration of the overall costs to the agencies and jurisdictions involved, which are not covered by other federal sources of funding (e.g., Federal Emergency Management Agency [FEMA], direct appropriation, etc.).
The recipient will use awarded funds to reimburse the New Jersey State Police, the Bedminster Township Police Department, and Somerset County ProsecutorÂ’s Office for extraordinary law enforcement costs for security operations for President-elect Trump. This included motorcades in and out of Trump National Golf Club, route security of the motorcades, static traffic posts outside of the property and security posts inside of the property.
