Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $249,716)

The St. Louis County Police Department already has an ANAB ANSI-ASQ accredited crime laboratory however it doesn’t include the Crime Scene and Identification units.

In order to integrate with the already existing infrastructure of the main laboratory as well as increase their quality and timeliness, the St. Louis County Crime Scene/Identification Laboratory is requesting funding to purchase licensing for JusticeTrax: Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) as well as tablets to utilize the system at its highest capacity. This would allow for integration with the main laboratory’s LIMS database.

These two items in combination would give the Crime Scene unit one all encompassing system with the ability to complete many necessary tasks in one easy to use system The Identification unit is asking for one laptop to be utilized in the processing laboratory. The use of this laptop is expected to reduce the amount of time spent duplicating data entry as well as increasing quality. A TracER Laser is being requested to be used for both crime scenes and latent print processing as neither unit currently has access to one.

Lastly, funding has been included for the application of ANAB ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board Accreditation.
