The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) will utilize this precipitous increase in crime funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program to assist local jurisdictions in offsetting costs related to the mass shooting experienced by the City of Parkland on February 14, 2018. Funds will be used to reimburse state and local agencies in direct support of the Parkland area for overtime and regular salary costs incurred by the law enforcement response. The FDLE will pass-through the entire award amount, retain any funds for administrative costs and ensure reimbursement is proportionate to both state and local agencies that directly support the impacted areas as described above.
