Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $272,275)
Idaho State Police Forensic Services (ISPFS) provides forensic services for the state of Idaho. ISP has a staffing issue in the firearms discipline with only two firearms analysts, one of which will be retiring soon. Idaho also has two labs applying for ISO accreditation in 2020, and ISPFS breath alcohol discipline needs to get the breath alcohol instrument calibration under ISO 17025:2017 accreditation status. Funds from this award will be used to continue employment of two contract employees (one in chemistry, one in firearms), assist the Nampa Police Department Crime Laboratory and Boise Police Department Crime Laboratory with accreditation and maintenance for the first four-year accreditation cycle, and a consultant for the ISPFS breath alcohol discipline to obtain accreditation under the ISO 17025:2017 standards.
