FY 2019 DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) Program (Formula)

The Northeastern Illinois Regional Crime Laboratory (NIRCL) is responsible for analyzing evidential material associated with criminal investigations for the majority of local agencies in Lake County, IL as well as in Cook, Will and McHenry counties in Illinois. The NIRCL aims to fulfill the important goal of providing customers with timely results without taking away from quality through this grant. The laboratory proposes to use the funding to support two employees to analyze cases, purchase DNA testing supplies, and upgrade equipment in the laboratory.
