Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $272,839)
The Denver Police Department (DPD) Crime Laboratory serves the City and County of Denver. The DPD Crime Laboratory DNA and Forensic Biology (DNA-FBIO) unit seeks federal support to achieve five goals: 1) To reduce the number of cases backlogged throughout the FY2019 grant period; 2) To increase laboratory capacity by employing a full-time Forensic Laboratory Technician; 3) To increase laboratory capacity by employing a part-time Administrative Support Assistant; 4) To transition to a new statistical software program that will increase capacity and processing efficiency and; 5) To fulfill continuing education requirements specified in the DNA Quality Assurance Standards for four DNA-FBIO analysts and staff.
