BJA’s Preventing Violence Against Law Enforcement Officers and Ensuring Officer Resilience and Survivability (VALOR) Initiative is comprised of eight program areas that address officer safety, wellness, resilience, and survival through multifaceted training, technical assistance, and specialized program offerings to state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies. Since 2010, it has provided critical education and resources to thousands of officers on officer safety and wellness topics that have a direct impact on officers’ safety. The VALOR Initiative continually evolves to ensure that it addresses current law enforcement concerns, and integrates the latest research and practices to address all aspects of officer safety and wellness that have a direct impact on job safety and performance.
In 2019, two additional programs will be added to the VALOR Initiative: VALOR Officer Safety and Wellness Training and Technical Assistance and Field-Driven Officer Safety and Wellness. These new programs will provide state, local, and tribal law enforcement with TTA on officer safety and wellness topics that have a direct impact on officer safety as well as support field-driven project that address officer safety and wellness.
