With this solicitation, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) seeks to fund applications to strengthen the medical examiner-coroner (ME/C) system by increasing the number of qualified forensic pathologists and enhance the quality of medicolegal death investigations nationwide.
Funding Categories:
- Purpose Area 1: Forensic Pathology Fellowships
- Purpose Area 2: Medical Examiner Coroner Office Accreditation
Eligible Applicants:
- City or township governments
- County governments
- For profit organizations other than small businesses
- Native American tribal governments (federally recognized)
- Native American tribal organizations (other than federally recognized tribal governments)
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Private institutions of higher education
- Public- and state-controlled institutions of higher education
- Special district governments
- State governments
Because the FY24 ME/C solicitation does not include any significant changes from the prior year, BJA will not convene a solicitation webinar under FY24. Applicants are encouraged to examine the FY23 archived solicitation webinar presentation.
