With this solicitation, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) seeks to support the purchase and lease of body-worn cameras (BWCs) by publicly funded law enforcement and corrections agencies as part of comprehensive BWC programs guided by sound policy and broad stakeholder input. In addition, the solicitation seeks to support demonstration projects that advance digital evidence management, leveraging BWC digital footage to promote evidence-based and procedurally just practices in agencies with established BWC programs.
Funding Categories:
- Category 1 – Site-based Awards to Law Enforcement Agencies (including self-initiated partnership applications)
- Category 2 – Site-based Awards to State Correctional Agencies
- Category 3 – Digital Evidence Management and Integration Demonstration Projects
- Category 4 – Optimizing BWC Footage in Prosecutors’ Offices Demonstration Projects
- Category 5 – Using BWC Footage for Training and Constitutional Policing Demonstration Projects
Eligible Applicants:
- State governments
- Special district governments
- City or township governments
- Public-and State-controlled institutions of higher education
- County governments
- Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Independent school districts
- Other – Any authorized agency or consortium that acts as in an instrumental capacity to assist law enforcement agencies perform law enforcement functions, including regional or state level authorities.
- Other – units of local government
The web-based questionnaire for the Inventory of Federal Priorities for Policing is currently unavailable. Applicants should continue to complete and submit their applications without this questionnaire being able to be completed. BJA will follow-up with each fully submitted applicant once the solicitation has closed via email in the coming days as it relates to Inventory of Federal Priorities for Policing priority.
