This publication of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is the solicitation overview for the FY 2024 Reimagining Justice: Testing a New Model of Community Safety program. Public- and state-controlled institutions of higher education; Native American tribal organizations (other than federally recognized tribal governments); Native American tribal governments (federally recognized); nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; private institutions of higher education; and local non-law enforcement government agencies are eligible to apply to receive funding for the development and testing of new or innovative approaches to improving community safety and trust that are an alternative to traditional enforcement mechanisms for neighborhoods experiencing high rates of less serious and low-level criminal offenses. BJA encourages the following entities to apply: agencies that have not previously received BJA funding and convening or governing bodies that can apply on behalf of one or more entities. The flier also offers examples of strategies/activities that can be funded, tips for success, as well as details about how and when to apply and where to get more information.
