This fourth of eight checklists for designing and implementing an evidence-based criminal justice and mental health collaboration program addresses the measurement of fidelity in implementing evidence-based program (EBP) elements.
The checklist has 10 components. The first component identifies the inputs and processes of the EBP to determine whether the implementation processes are being faithful to EBP components. The second component identifies a fidelity tool for the EBP that is relevant to the setting and population to be served. The third component consists of training staff on how to use the fidelity tool in assessing EBP implementation. The fourth component of the checklist ensures there are procedures in place for assessing staff implementation of the EBP. The checklist’s fifth component determines whether there are procedures for addressing differences between the actual and expected performance of the EBP. The sixth component identifies resources for improving implementation of the EBP. The seventh component of the checklist develops coaching opportunities that support staff in complying with implementation procedures for the EBP. An eighth component of the checklist develops process and performance measures that ensure compliance with features of the EBP. The ninth component consists of developing an action plan that ensures agency staff are making progress in adherence to all features of the EBP. The final task of the checklist is to update the implementation team and larger interagency workgroup on progress in EBP implementation. For each component of this checklist, suggestions are outlined for achieving it. An annotated listing of five resources
