This sixth of eight checklists for implementing an evidence-based criminal justice and mental health collaboration program provides guidance for ensuring that staff have the proper skills and knowledge to implement the evidence-based practices (EBPs) effectively.

Abstract

The checklist has six components. The first component provides guidance in identifying the knowledge and skills (the core competencies) that staff and administrators need to implement the EBP. The second component of the checklist involves the development and administering of a knowledge test for staff who will implement the EBP. The third component involves determining whether the key skills related to implementing the EBP have been identified. The fourth component of the checklist involves the use of coaching to improve staff skills. The fifth component provides guidance on assessing whether the agency environment is conducive to participant-centered strategies and whether staff can implement these strategies to support the EBP. The sixth checklist component involves determining how the agency is supporting implementation of the EBP. For each of these components, actions recommended for implementing it are described. 4 annotated listings of resources
