This newsletter reports on events, research, training, and programs related to the work of the National Gang Center, which conducts research on street gangs and serves as a clearinghouse for individuals and agencies that seek information, technical assistance, and training in the areas of gang prevention, intervention, suppression, and reentry.
The leading feature examines the prevalence of gang member migration across the United States and summarizes an analyses on the topic. A new bulletin "It's About Time: Prevention and Intervention Services for Gang-Affiliated Girls" aims to bring attention the vulnerabilities and consequences of gang involvement for girls; the service needs of girls in gangs and girls at risk of joining gangs; and the importance of addressing these service needs as a critical component of cities' gang violence-prevention efforts. The newsletter also highlights effective gang member reentry as a top priority for criminal justice and gang violence protocols for medical facilities.
