Abstract

This fact sheet provides information on a grant program authorized by the Second Chance Act (SCA), which supports federal grants for vital programs and systems reform aimed at improving the reentry process for youth and adults who are leaving detention or incarceration. SCA grants are administered and funded by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP). This factsheet lays out the purpose of the Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry (CSCR) Program, and characteristics that make CSCR unique, such as its attention to people who are at risk from Opioid overdose or suicide. It also reviews the CSCR goal of ensuring that crisis stabilization is available to people reentering the community and that the crisis and reentry systems are coordinating to best serve the target population. Entities that are eligible to apply for the CSCR grant include states, local government units, federally recognized tribal governments, and nonprofit organization. The factsheet also provides a description of allowable uses of funds, funding amount, and award period.
