This report describes how the Redlands Police Department (RPD) in California used GPS technology to make arrests in the property crimes of pharmacy burglary, serial armed robbery, construction site theft. vending machine theft, and cemetery theft.
This resource highlights how the Redlands (CA) Police Department, located 60 miles east of Los Angeles, began using GPS technology to investigate a vehicle burglary crime trend they were experiencing. They used the success of using this technology to create a new strategy, giving detectives tools to conduct electronic stakeouts. Additional examples of how the technology has helped Redlands Police Department recover stolen property, make arrests, and quickly close cases are provided.
