In April 2023, the Bureau of Justice Assistance and the CDMCF Training and Technical Assistance team hosted the New York State Sheriffs’ Association (NYSSA) who presented a webinar on implementing a comprehensive approach to the detection and mitigation of COVID-19 in confinement facilities, which includes clean air, clean surfaces, cleaning management standards, building occupancy/limitations, and a technology infrastructure to enable customized, automatic, and regular alerts based on real-time data. The webinar was tailored to public health professionals, state and local sheriffs, and corrections/confinement facility administrators, operators, healthcare personnel, and staff working to better detect and mitigate COVID-19 in prisons, jails, and juvenile confinement facilities.
