In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. National Police Week is a time to support law enforcement communities while honoring officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

This year, National Police Week is May 12 through May 18, 2024. See the National Police Week webpage for a schedule of events.
