September is Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the people who have taken the long journey toward recovery from substance use issues and support those who have not or are still on the road to recovery. The Bureau of Justice Assistance administers a number of programs that grow and foster a wide support network of recovery professionals and peers who make the journey toward recovery easier and less isolating for those looking to make that brave first step.
In her blog post, Supporting Recovery, the Office of Justice Programs' (OJP's) Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Amy L. Solomon discusses the toll substance use disorders have on the country, harm reduction responses to substance misuse, and how OJP can deliver the support that individuals need to work toward and maintain their recovery.
