Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation (BCJI) Program

This program is a strategic approach to crime reduction that leverages community knowledge and expertise by focusing on community-led efforts, working with law enforcement and other local partners to support prevention and intervention efforts on neighborhoods where crime is concentrated or crime "hotspots."

Project Guardian Launched

 

The Attorney General has announced the launch of Project Guardian, a new initiative designed to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws across the country. Project Guardian will serve as a complementary effort to Project Safe Neighborhoods and will help to ensure effective use of Crime Gun Intelligence Centers and other efforts.

 

Justice Department Awards More Than $30 Million to Project Safe Neighborhoods to Combat Violent Crime


In support of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) programs throughout the country, the Attorney General announced awards of almost $28 million in grant funding to combat violent crime through PSN and another $3 million for training and technical assistance to develop and implement violent crime reduction strategies and enhance services and resources for victims of violent crime. Designed to create and foster safer neighborhoods through a sustained reduction in violent crime, this program's effectiveness depends upon the ongoing coordination, cooperation, and partnerships of local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies working together with the communities they serve and engaged in a unified approach led by the U.S. Attorney in all 94 districts.
