FY 2020 Justice Reinvestment Initiative: Reducing Violent Crime by Improving Justice System Performance

Event Dates

During this webinar, Dr. Rachel Brushett, Senior Policy Advisor at BJA, will provide an overview of the Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JRI) and will review the 2020 JRI solicitation guidelines. Dr. Brushett will provide a detailed explanation of the application requirements and will be available to answer specific questions.

JRI is a BJA-sponsored intensive, data-driven approach that can help state, local, and tribal justice stakeholders analyze, understand, and address key challenges in their justice systems, including violent crime, opioid addiction and mental illness, high correctional costs, and high recidivism rates. The initiative supports a multi-staged process by which a jurisdiction increases the cost-effectiveness of its criminal justice system and reinvests savings into high-performing strategies to increase public safety.
