Event Dates

Agencies that have created homicide support groups (HSGs) have improved the overall outcomes of homicide investigations, increased clearance rates, strengthened police-community relationships and garnered more witness cooperation in the prosecution of homicides.

This webinar, supported by the Project Safe Neighborhoods Training and Technical Assistance program, will feature presenters from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) who have more than 10 years of experience supporting an HSG program. Presenters will explore the history, program characteristics, and benefits of HSGs based on a trauma-informed, holistic approach to victim services. The webinar presenters will offer lessons learned from the CMPD’s lengthy experience to help agencies that wish to implement their own HSGs.

Speakers will include:

  • Chief (ret.) Rodney Monroe (CNA Subject Matter Expert and former Chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department)
  • Shardal Rose (Director of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Support Group)
  • Sergeant Ricky Robbins (Coordinator of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Support Group)
  • Spencer Merriweather (District Attorney for the 26th Prosecutorial District of North Carolina)
