This workshop is designed for prosecutors and law enforcement handling any type of digital evidence.

The Supreme Court's decision in Carpenter v. United States (2018) will be discussed as well as the requirements to use search warrants for Geolocation data.

Participants will also learn where the data that supports geolocation is generated and how to find the right sources to ask for the proper data with different electronic service providers, social networking sites and other popular mobile applications.

Finally, the legality of using localized software or hardware capable of connecting to remote servers to remove user data will also be explained.

Hypotheticals detailing potential legal pitfalls will be used to high light some of the issues.
