Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $906,609)

The National American Indian Court Judges Association (NAICJA) is submitting this proposal for the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) FY24 Tribal Civil and Criminal Legal Assistance Training and Technical Assistance (TCCLA) Solicitation. NAICJA proposes the Training and Technical Assistance Project for Tribal Legal Services and will collaborate with the National Association of Indian Legal Services, the Center for Holistic Defense at the Bronx Defenders, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the Tribal Law and Policy Institute, and FHI 360 to provide comprehensive training and technical assistance to tribal justice system, tribal justice system providers, and other stakeholders. Through this project, NAICJA aims to improve the capacity of tribal justice systems to address civil and criminal causes of action and activities in tribal jurisdictions.
