Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2014, $699,507)
This program is funded under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The JAG Program (42 U.S.C. § 3751(a)) is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions, and JAG funds support all components of the criminal justice system. The FY 2014 LE National TTA provision focuses on provision of TTA to state and local law enforcement and crime prevention efforts targeting homicides.
The Police Executive Research Forum will conduct assessments of homicide investigation policies and procedures and provide technical assistance to law enforcement agencies that have requested assistance from BJA. The second phase of the project will use recommendations in the assessments to develop customized training curricula for the agencies. The curricula will be used to deliver training to homicide investigation units at each of the selected sites. The goal is to assess homicide investigation responses in the agencies and facilitate the adoption of evidence-based strategies to improve homicide clearance rates. CA/NCF
