The National Initiatives Reaching Criminal Justice Policymakers Program is designed to provide objective, fact-based information, resources, and training and technical assistance (TTA) on timely and pressing criminal justice issues of potential concern to the nation's criminal justice policymakers. The program's intent is to support pathways for evidence-based best practices to reach policymakers in various roles. This competitive grant announcement will support four categories focusing on providing specialized information, training and technical assistance to: State Administering Agencies (SAAs); state and local government policymakers (such as governors, state legislators, county officials, and mayors); parole authorities; and, state and local departments of corrections.
The National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) will utilize funds to provide SAAs with TTA directly related to the mechanics of the SAA role and administration of formula funds. NCJA will provide TTA related to grants management, oversight, and program implementation. NCJA will be tasked with providing orientation to new SAAs; providing up-to-date information to BJA and SAAs on major state policy efforts and innovative practices; and, collecting data on JAG-related activities.
