Abstract

This fact sheet on the DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) Program provides a program summary, noting the three main purposes of CEBR as: to carry out DNA analyses of database samples collected under applicable legal authority, for inclusion in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS); to carry out DNA analyses of forensic case samples for inclusion in CODIS; and to increase the capacity of publicly funded DNA and DNA database laboratories. Program accomplishments include over one million completed cases, over three million completed database samples, more than 500,000 forensic (crime scene) profiles uploaded to CODIS, and more than three million databasing profiles uploaded to CODIS. The fact sheet also provides a list of awards and total funding per award, dating from 2011 through 2022.
