State, Local, and Tribal Terrorism Prevention Training and Technical Assistance (SLATT) Program

The Institute for Intergovernmental Research will utilize a multifaceted approach to provide regional training sessions and technical assistance on terrorism prevention matters; prepare and disseminate publications related to the counterterrorism efforts of state, local, and tribal law enforcement; and offer Web-based education and research addressing officer safety and emerging trends in the terrorism prevention arena. The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) will continue as a partner with BJA in providing support to the SLATT program through the provision of in-person and distance SLATT training, updating curricula, maintaining the SLATT website and other resources, and disseminating publications.
The overall goal of the BJA State and Local Anti-Terrorism Training (SLATT) Program is to increase the capacity of state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies and court and prosecution authorities to address the threats presented by violent criminal extremism/terrorism through the delivery of specialized training and technical assistance services.
