Justice Department Awards More Than $17.5 Million to Support Project Safe Neighborhoods
The Department of Justice has awarded more than $17.5 million in grants to support PSN. BJA will administer the 88 fiscal year 2021 grant awards, which are being made to designated fiscal agents to support local PSN projects that work in partnership with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices.
Attorney General Barr Joins President Trump in Announcing $41 Million in Emergency Funding to Address the Public Safety Crisis in Wisconsin
During a September 1, 2020, visit to Kenosha, Wisconsin, President Trump announced $41 million in grant awards to the state of Wisconsin and local jurisdictions within the state to address a surge in community violence and ongoing civil unrest. The grants from the Office of Justice Programs and Office of Community Oriented Policing Services will support proven violence reduction efforts like PSN.
Justice Department Awards More Than $30 Million to Project Safe Neighborhoods to Combat Violent Crime
In support of PSN programs throughout the country, the Attorney General announced awards of almost $28 million in grant funding to combat violent crime through PSN and another $3 million for training and technical assistance to develop and implement violent crime reduction strategies and enhance services and resources for victims of violent crime.

Emergency Funding Announced to Address Public Safety Crisis in Rural Alaska
The Justice Department has authorized more than $10 million in immediate funding to support police in Alaska Native villages and additional resources to expand prosecution resources, PSN crime reduction measures, and for other purposes.

In an October 3, 2019, press release, Attorney General Barr highlights how the revitalization and enhancement of PSN two years ago has helped reduce violence in communities and improve overall public safety.
Project Guardian Launched
The Attorney General has announced the launch of Project Guardian, a new initiative designed to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws across the country. Project Guardian will serve as a complementary effort to PSN and will help to ensure effective use of Crime Gun Intelligence Centers and other efforts.
