DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) Program
With this program, BJA assists states and units of local government with existing crime laboratories to increase the capacity of public forensic DNA and DNA database laboratories to process more DNA samples for the FBI's Combined DNA Index System.
Strengthening the Medical Examiner-Coroner System Program
This program helps address the extreme shortage of board-certified forensic pathologists in the United States and provides medical examiner and coroner offices with the resources to become accredited and maintain that accreditation.

This program assists law enforcement and prosecutors to address and prosecute violent crime cold cases and decrease the number of violent crime cold cases awaiting prosecution.

This program provides funding for agencies to gain insight into the scope of unanalyzed sexual assault kits (SAKs) and for managing the status of the workflow of the SAKs.

This program funds states, units of local government, and public institutions of higher education to assist in defraying the costs associated with postconviction case identification, case review, evidence location, and DNA testing in violent felony cases (as defined by state law) where the results of such testing might show actual innocence.
Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grants Program
This program funds states and units of local government to help improve the quality and timeliness of their forensic science and medical examiner/coroner services.

Residential Substance Abuse Treatment for State Prisoners (RSAT) Program
This program enhances the capabilities of state, local, and tribal governments to provide residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment to adult and juvenile populations during detention or incarceration, initiate or continue evidence-based SUD treatment in jails, prepare individuals for reintegration into the community, and assist them and their communities throughout the reentry process by delivering community-based treatment and other recovery aftercare services.
Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)
This program provides funding to state and local governments and federally recognized tribes for demonstration projects within confinement settings, including adult prisons and jails, juvenile facilities, community corrections facilities, law enforcement lockups and other temporary holding facilities, and tribal detention facilities.
Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN)
Designed to create and foster safer neighborhoods through a sustained reduction in violent crime, this program's effectiveness depends upon the ongoing coordination, cooperation, and partnerships of local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies working together with the communities they serve and engaged in a unified approach led by the U.S. Attorney in all 94 districts.
