DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) Program
With this program, BJA assists states and units of local government with existing crime laboratories to increase the capacity of public forensic DNA and DNA database laboratories to process more DNA samples for the FBI's Combined DNA Index System.
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program
This formula grant program is the leading federal source of criminal justice funding to states, territories, local governments, and tribes. It provides critical funding necessary to support a range of program areas.
Emergency Federal Law Enforcement Assistance (EFLEA) Program
This program assists state and/or local government units in responding to extraordinary law enforcement emergencies by authorizing the U.S. Attorney General to grant funding to help alleviate the costs incurred by law enforcement agencies in responding to emergency law enforcement challenges.
Emmett Till Cold Case Investigations and Prosecution Program
This program supports efforts by state, local, and tribal law enforcement and prosecution agencies, working with their partners, in the investigation and prosecution of unsolved cold case homicides suspected of having been racially motivated.

Forensics Training and Technical Assistance Program
This program offers expertise and assistance to grantees under several of BJA's forensic science programs.
Improving Adult and Youth Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry Program
This program supports state, local, and tribal governments, as well as community-based nonprofit organization efforts to establish or expand cross-system approaches to reduce the risk of crisis and improve reentry and recovery outcomes for people reentering the community from correctional facilities (e.g., jails, prisons, juvenile detention) with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.
Improving Reentry Education and Employment Outcomes Program
This program provides funding and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations and state, local, and tribal governments to expand education and employment programs that serve individuals during incarceration and throughout their period of reentry into the community.
Improving Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Outcomes for Adults in Reentry Program
This program supports nonprofit organizations and government agencies as they work to establish, expand, or improve programs to address the substance use disorder treatment and recovery support needs of people during incarceration and reentry.
Innovations in Reentry Initiative
Innovations in Reentry Initiative seeks to improve the capacity and effectiveness of state, local, and tribal jurisdictions to identify innovative ways to increase the success rates of individuals returning to their communities and reduce the number of crimes committed by those recently returning.
Intellectual Property Enforcement Program
This program is designed to assist state, local, and tribal jurisdictions in preventing and reducing intellectual property theft and related crime.
John R. Justice (JRJ) Program
This program provides student loan repayment assistance to state, local, and federal public defenders and local and state prosecutors who commit to extended service in those roles.
Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program (JMHCP)
This program supports innovative cross-system collaboration to improve responses to and outcomes for individuals with mental health disorders or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders who are in the justice system or reentering the community.

Justice Counts is designed to help policymakers and criminal justice practitioners make better decisions using data.
Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JRI)
This initiative works in partnership with states to analyze complex criminal justice challenges, develop and implement data-driven solutions, and maximize resources to achieve stronger communities and public safety.
Kevin and Avonte Program
This program supports local jurisdictions’ efforts to reduce the number of deaths and injuries of individuals with forms of dementia or developmental disabilities who, due to their condition, wander from safe environments.
Law Enforcement Cyber Center
The Law Enforcement Cyber Center provides local, state, and tribal law enforcement with critical resources to help them learn, investigate, and solve cybercrimes; share cyber threat information; and collaborate with regional and federal authorities.
Law Enforcement Knowledge Lab
The Knowledge Lab is an innovative endeavor designed to assist law enforcement agencies, communities, and researchers in promoting public safety through constitutional policing and stronger community relationships.
Law Enforcement Planning for Major Events
When law enforcement executives are tasked with managing a large-scale event, they can maximize their efforts by learning from other agencies and adopting proven practices. Too often, past lessons learned are not documented in a clear and concise manner. BJA is working to provide the field with resources and tools to address this information gap.
Local Law Enforcement Crime Gun Intelligence Center Integration Initiative
Administered by BJA in partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, this initiative provides funding to state, local, and tribal government entities that are experiencing precipitous increases in gun-related violent crime.
