This opportunity will identify a cooperative agreement recipient to develop and deliver educational courses to provide new correctional staff an understanding of their requirements under the PREA Standards about how to prevent, detect, and respond to allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment of people in confinement settings.

PREA Funding Now Available

BJA is seeking applications for funding through the FY 2020 Implementing the PREA Standards, Protecting Inmates, and Safeguarding Communities competitive grant solicitation.

National PREA Resource Center

The PREA Resource Center works to address sexual safety in confinement, and to assist state and local jurisdictions with implementation of the Department of Justice's National PREA Standards.

PREA Standards in Focus Now Available

 

Developed with funding support from BJA, PREA Standards in Focus is a new feature designed to provide a quick synopsis of a Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standard, the intent and purpose, implementation tips, challenges, and audit issues related to the standard to assist in further awareness and education.

 

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)

This program provides funding to state and local governments and federally recognized tribes for demonstration projects within confinement settings, including adult prisons and jails, juvenile facilities, community corrections facilities, law enforcement lockups and other temporary holding facilities, and tribal detention facilities.
