BJA is seeking applications for funding local jurisdictions’ efforts to reduce the number of deaths and injuries of individuals with forms of dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease or developmental disabilities such as autism who, due to their condition, wander from safe environments.

BJA is seeking applications for funding from the John R. Justice (JRJ) Grant Program, which provides student loan repayment assistance for local, state and federal public defenders and local and state prosecutors who commit to extended service in those roles.

This program assists state, local and tribal jurisdictions in preventing and reducing intellectual property theft and related crime.

Through this program, BJA is seeking applications for funding of projects designed to prevent, detect, and respond to sexual abuse and sexual harassment in confinement facilities, and to achieve and maintain compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards.

This program supports efforts by wrongful conviction review entities that represent individuals with post-conviction claims of innocence to review individual cases.

This program will provide resources, training and technical assistance to smaller, rural and tribal law enforcement agencies located in the northern and middle states of the United States to support their efforts to reduce violent crime, including drug-related crime and human trafficking.

The RSAT for State Prisoners Program assists states with developing and implementing residential substance abuse treatment programs within state correctional facilities, as well as within local correctional and detention facilities, in which inmates are incarcerated for a period of time sufficient to permit substance abuse treatment.

The goal of this initiative is to provide survivor peer support and counseling services and resources to survivors of fallen law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders nationwide.

This opportunity is designed to improve school security by providing students and teachers with the tools they need to recognize, respond quickly to, and help prevent acts of violence.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking applications for funding to improve public safety and victim services in tribal communities. This solicitation provides federally recognized tribes and tribal consortia an opportunity to apply for funding to aid in developing a comprehensive and coordinated approach to public safety and victimization.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG), administered by BJA and authorized under Public Law 109-162 (see page 136), is the leading source of federal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions. The JAG Program allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking applications for the Reducing Injury and Death of Missing Individuals with Dementia and Developmental Disabilities Program. This program furthers the Department’s priorities by supporting law enforcement and public safety agencies in their efforts to reduce and prevent injuries and deaths of missing individuals with dementia or developmental disabilities.

The Second Chance Act Pay For Success Initiative: Outcomes-based Contracting To Lower Recidivism And Homelessness will provide assistance and funding to state, local, and tribal governments to price, write, negotiate, fund, and manage contracts that pay for these services in a way that ensures accountability of the contract service providers, and incentivizes improved performance over time.

This initiative focuses on developing academic-based, transdisciplinary crisis intervention training to educate, train, and prepare law enforcement officers so that they are equipped to appropriately interact with people who have mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities in the course of completing their job responsibilities.

PSN is designed to create and foster safer neighborhoods through a sustained reduction in violent crime, including, but not limited to, addressing criminal gangs and the felonious possession and use of firearms. The program's effectiveness depends on the cooperation and partnerships of local, state, tribal, and federal agencies engaged in a unified approach led by the U.S. Attorney (USA) in all 94 districts. Acting decisively at all levels-- federal, state, local, and tribal-- will help reverse a rise in violent crime and keep American citizens safe.

Projects funded under this solicitation will support innovative and comprehensive approaches in state, local, and tribal correctional facilities for adults and juveniles to prevent, detect, and respond to incidences of sexual abuse and sexual harassment, and to come into compliance with the National Prison Rape Elimination Act Standards.
