This opportunity will provide funding to institutions of higher education to develop and implement a hands-on course that focuses on firearms and toolmark identification as an applied forensic science discipline.

This program provides funding to prevent and reduce violent crime in communities by supporting comprehensive, evidence-based violence intervention and prevention programs.

The purpose of this initiative is to support local and tribal jurisdictions’ capacity to work with their Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives partners to utilize intelligence, technology, and community engagement to swiftly identify unlawfully used firearms and their sources, and effectively prosecute perpetrators engaged in violent crime.

This program is designed to improve K-12 school security by providing students and teachers with the tools they need to recognize, respond quickly to, and help prevent acts of violence and ensure a positive school climate.

This opportunity will establish a cooperative agreement with one training and technical assistance (TTA) provider to further develop the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) National TTA Program to support and deliver TTA to PSN Teams, state and local law enforcement, other criminal justice professionals, and research partners.
